Getting started: your scheduling page in about 10 minutes

Follow the steps below once and your page runs itself — students see your real free time from Microsoft 365 Exchange and book it, and every meeting shows up on your Outlook calendar.

  1. 1. Sign in with your university account

Click “Faculty/Staff sign in” at the top of the page and sign in with your @southern.edu Microsoft account. Only verified university email addresses can create a page.

  2. 2. Connect Microsoft 365

On your dashboard, click “Connect Microsoft 365” and approve the Microsoft prompt. This links your Outlook calendar so the app can see when you're busy — and it turns your page on automatically.

If your dashboard later says Microsoft 365 is disconnected, just click Connect again — your hours and settings are saved.

  3. 3. Choose which calendars count

In the Microsoft 365 tab, pick the calendars the app should read for your busy times, or leave them all unchecked to use every calendar. Birthdays and US Holidays are always left out.

  4. 4. Add your available hours

Open the “Available hours” tab and add your weekly hours — the days and time windows students may book you. You can also add date-specific overrides for special weeks, breaks, or days off.

You won't appear in the public directory until your hours are saved, and students can only book inside these windows.

  5. 5. Set up your meeting types

Create the kinds of meetings you offer — for example a 30-minute meeting or a 60-minute meeting. For each one you choose the length, location (office, Microsoft Teams, or both), the earliest notice, and how start times are spaced.

Start-time spacing options: back-to-back (default), on the hour, every half hour, or every quarter hour.

  6. 6. Share your scheduling link

Your personal link — officehours.southern.edu/book/your-name — is shown on your dashboard under “Your scheduling link.” Put it in your syllabus, email signature, or webpage, and students can book time that's actually free on your Outlook calendar.

Every confirmed booking lands on your Outlook calendar and emails both of you automatically.

Common questions

  • Do students need an account? They sign in with their university account. You can also allow guests without one — the “Allow people without a university account to book” switch in your dashboard controls this, and it is off by default.
  • Will it double-book me? No. Times already on your Outlook calendar — across the calendars you chose — are never offered to students.
  • What if I cancel a meeting? Cancel it in Outlook like normal. The time opens back up and the student is notified.
